IWC VIJAYAWADA SUNSHINE organized a Mentrual Hygiene Awareness Session

IWC VIJAYAWADA SUNSHINE organized a Mentrual Hygiene Awareness Session for the young adolescent girls and women residing in slums of Gamela Bazaar near Autonagar Vijayawada.
Poor menstrual hygiene is the leading cause of serious health risks, like reproductive and urinary tract infections which can result in future infertility and birth complications. Cultural practices and taboos around menstruation cause a barrier in proper knowledge and lead to a negative impact on the health of women and young girls. To educate and create awareness regarding this rarely talked issue our
Club Secretary Dr. Bhargavi who is MHM State coordinator & Project lead, Tata Trusts
conducted the awareness session in a very child-friendly, simplified and interactive manner and explained the dos and don’ts related to Menstrual Hygiene.
Following the session the attendee girls were distributed Sanitary Napkins, RAGI Kanji and Snacks. Benefits of RAGI Kanji in relation to Women health was also highlighted, RAGI being a rich source of iron.
Club Vice-President engaged the younger kids of the area with entertainment and dance and also distributed Snacks to them.
Overall initiative and support provided by IWC VIJAYAWADA SUNSHINE is being appreciated by the residents and is believed to bring in a positive impact around the area.
