Another pandemic year has passed, and it is very pleasing to note that our Inner Wheel members in India have successfully fulfilled their mission to bring about change in the lives of those in need.
Felicitations to the Pink First National Board led by its National President, SAROJ KATIYAR. You all have hurdled the volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous times by excellently showing our members how to act with vision, understanding, clarity, and agility. Notwithstanding the obstacles such as distance and, of course, the threat of the virus, you bravely went on missions to show those who are disadvantaged that women like us care for them.
As we begin another season of selfless service to humanity, wish all the best to the equally courageous National President SURJIT KAUR and the officers of the , National Governing Body. No doubt that your team is determined to Work Wonders to inspire all Inner Wheel members to do what is necessary to respond to the needs of others.
Your genuine concern for making a difference in people’s lives will be the strength that will carry you through these challenging times.
Cheers to all the Wonder Women of the Association of Inner Wheel Clubs of India, and praying that we all remain Strong Women as we create a a Stronger World.

My dear friends in Inner Wheel,
WE CARE…….Yes, we do!
Dare, Care and Share ……….Yes, we will!
This is the challenge I place before you this year – Dare, Care and Share.
Three small words yet with great depth of meaning. As members of Inner Wheel, this great women voluntary organization, we Dare to do the impossible, because we Care and we wish to Share. It is so simple. Ever since the inception of Inner Wheel, in 1924, we as members have taken up many challenges, without fear, and with a genuine desire to serve those who need help. Our Inner Wheel prayer says that wherever the need for service arises, be ready to serve. And we at Inner Wheel have come forward with courage and compassion to serve.
The world in the last hundred years has seen wars, famines, pestilences, earthquakes, floods, epidemics, and the most recent Covid -19 which shook the world to its very foundations. Yet Inner Wheel members were to be seen everywhere serving the people in any way they could. Nothing could stop them. They DARED because they CARED.
The IIW theme for the year 2022-2023 by our IIW President Zenaida Farcon —Work Wonders – is a theme that encompasses a very broad spectrum of what we as members can do , to make a difference to the community, society , and the world at large. It inspires us to work Wonders and miracles, when all seems hopeless. Let us all join together to Work Wonders and we will watch the miracles unfold.
I believe that a woman needs to be healthy .She needs to be educated. She needs to be given equal opportunity. She needs skill training. She needs to stand tall and empowered. Keeping this in mind my major focus would be on Adolescent and Women Welfare. Positive health for adolescents and women is my primary goal.
A battle against the dreaded Cancer, anemia – spreading awareness regarding early detection and treatment and other health issues will be dealt with Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world” said Nelson Mandela. We will use this weapon to educate children who have never seen the inside of a school, school dropouts, educate the adult whose identity is her fingerprint as well as foster E Learning for all. Voluntary teachers would be encouraged and their social conscience awakened.
Save the environment, Save the world. The Dalai Lama says that it is our collective and individual responsibility to preserve and tend to the environment in which we all live. We must ensure that the world we pass on to future generations is better than what we found it. With this in mind, a major drive to minimize air, water, noise pollution and regulate waste management will be undertaken. Efforts to bring back tall shady leafy trees that were a part of our childhood and afforestation on a war footing will be organized.
“Each one plant many” is my wish. An increased membership means more hands to serve. Let us bring into the Inner Wheel fold those women who wish to serve and are looking for a forum of likeminded women to channelize their compassion and generosity.
As we step into a New Year of Friendship , Service and International Understanding, as we build further on the mighty edifice of Inner Wheel in India, as we Work Wonders and Miracles as we make the impossible possible with courage, dedication & friendship, let us in the words of Swami Vivekananda “Arise ,Awake And Stop Not Till The GOAL is reached”.
I wish you all the best my dear Wonder Workers.
God bless you
Dr. Surjit Kaur

The biggest attribute to any success is hard work. Be a winner. Embrace hard work and create wonders.
Dear friend,
There is indeed no substitute for hard work. The IIW Theme Work Wonders lays emphasis on putting our best efforts in the cause of Inner Wheel. We Care is the call at the national level that covers a wide spectrum of service activity which will be detailed in the next pages. Caring and sharing are typically feminine and maternal traits which all of us can easily relate to. Adding a dash of dare – leaping into action when needed, defending those who are more vulnerable gives a totality to the theme.
It is a matter of great pride and privilege to be leading District 302 as the Chairman. My vision and dream is to spread the magic and the knowledge of this noble organization which is rapidly reaching 100 years of its existence. We should be so well established and recognised in society that people approach us first for any kind of social requirement – education, health, environment….. Our focus therefore should be on branding of Inner Wheel and significant increase in our membership.
The District Directory is an important medium of communication, a very handy and all encompassing manual and yearbook. I am truly delighted to have the opportunity of greeting you through this valuable publication as we all look forward to the beginning of a new Inner Wheel year.

											Instill in us O’ Lord,
The true meaning of friendship
Never let us forget that we are all Thy children
Notwithstanding the differences in our cultures and creeds.
Endow us with a desire to serve our fellowmen,
Remembering that we, too, often need help.
Whenever or wherever the need for service arises,
Help us to be ready to serve.
Endeavoring to make our badge of Inner Wheel worthwhile
Ensuring that we have not lived in vain.
The Inner Wheel emblem is a small wheel contained with in the Rotary Wheel and hence the name “Inner Wheel” highlighting our close association with Rotary. The wheel is universally seen as a symbol of Progress It represents movement, mobility, change, action, time, unity, completeness, justice and perfection. We generally speak of the wheel of time, the wheel of fortune, the wheel of life and the wheel of love.
The circular motion of the wheel as symbol of International Inner Wheel depicts continuous ‘service’ and ever-expanding ‘friendship’.
The Inner Wheel consists of two gear wheels, one inside the other, with six spokes radiating outward from the centre hub.
The outside teeth represent clubs around the world.
The six spokes represent officers and service committees. The dot in the middle is the individual member who is most crucial to the movement.

INTERNATIONAL INNER WHEEL is the administrative body of Inner Wheel organisations worldwide. It is governed by an Executive Committee of five elected officers: President, Vice-President, Immediate Past President, Treasurer, and Constitution Chairman.
The EC together with 16 elected Board Directors, make up the International Governing Body. An Editor/Media Manager who is responsible for the IIW website, media output and promotional documents is also nominated and elected.
The elections are held once every year from nominations received all over the world. The EC is assisted by a full time administrator.Clubs, Districts and National Governing Bodies adhere to the IIW Constitution.
An IIW Convention held triennially and hosted in one of the Inner Wheel countries, gathers members all over the world to discuss changes and vote accordingly. Every Club has a right to a vote.
Large meetings are also held regionally, such as in Europe, USA, South Asia, Philippines, Australia, and India. This has helped to promote friendship, and provide the opportunity for growth, leadership and empowerment.

Mrs. Margarette Golding, a nurse, business woman and the wife of a Manchester Rotarian, started the Inner Wheel movement. The first official meeting of the Inner Wheel Club of Manchester was on 10 January 1924. The 10th of January is now celebrated as World Inner Wheel Day (or simply Inner Wheel Day), by Clubs all over the world.
