Formation of the Inner Wheel Club

Inner Wheel came to India with the formation of the Inner Wheel Club of Ahmedabad in 1955.

1965
1st District
1st District

The 1st District in India, No.75 was formed in 1965, which is now called Dist.305

1966
2nd District
2nd Dist

The 2nd Dist. 315 was formed in 1966,

Our District 302 was a part of District 315 previously, of which Late Purviz Banaji of Bombay was the Founder Chairman.

3rd Dist. 317 in 1967-68 and

4th Dist. 310 in 1968-69.

1984-85
Bifurcations
Bifurcations

Dist. 314 was carved out of Dist 315. Silla Ardeshir became Founder Chairman of Dist. 314. Dist. 314 was bifurcated again in 1984-85 and 1991-92 to form Dist. 313 and 303 respectively.

1985
February
District 326

District 315 was divided again in February 1985 creating Dist. 326 under the guidance of Association President Mrs Veena Gandhi (1984-85) and the then district chairman of district 315 Mrs Mythri Mangaraj.

Lalitha Jain became the first district chairman of district 326.

1992
July
District 302

Inner Wheel District 302 was formed out of Dist. 315 on 1st July 1992 with the bifurcation of R.I. District 3150 into 3150 and 3020. Kamala Viswanath from IWC Vijayawada East & G. Rashmi Samaram from IWC Vijayawada were the first District Chairman & Secretary of District 302 respectively.

The prestigious 'District Charter' of our district was received by the then chairman Mrs J. Mani Prabha (2014-15).

‘Darpan’  60 years of Association of Inner Wheel Clubs in India was celebrated on 11th February 2015 in Noida with Association President Dr Rashmi Sharma(2014-15) at the helm of affairs, hosted by District 301 led by District Chairman Neelu Khanna(2014-15). 

The prominent charters for all the 27 Districts in India were presented to the District Chairmen through the hands of chief guest of the day IIW President Mrs Abha Gupta (2014-15).

The Inner Wheel Club of Manchester was founded in 1924 by Margarette Golding, the first of nearly 4,000 Inner Wheel Clubs today. By 2022, Inner Wheel has grown to more than 120,000 members in 100 countries.
